Our joint venture Waratah OM invests in new facility
Excellent news from our key customer and close partner: Waratah OM Oy, to whom Outokummun Metalli supplies harvester head frames, announced in June 2025 a major investment in a new facility in Joensuu. We are pleased and proud to support Waratah OM on its strong growth path. We warmly congratulate the company on this significant step and wish every success in the implementation of the project!

Waratah OM Oy to Invest Over Seven Million Euros in New Facility in Joensuu
Waratah OM Oy, a manufacturer of harvester heads for forestry machines, has launched a significant investment project. The company is building a new, over 3,000-square-meter factory in the GreenPark area of Penttilä, Joensuu. Once completed in summer 2026, the new facility will strengthen Waratah OM Oy’s position as a leading player in forest machine technology and increase its production and testing capacity.
All current production, product development and testing operations will be relocated from leased premises in the Raatekangas business district to the new company-owned facility, which will feature state-of-the-art technology for the development and manufacturing of harvester heads. The entire Joensuu-based staff will move to the new site, and the company also has R&D personnel based in Tampere.
“This new factory is a major milestone in Waratah OM’s 20-year journey. In addition to increasing our production capacity, it will ensure the long-term functionality of the development and testing facilities that are essential to our operations. Just as importantly, it will provide a modern working environment for our employees,” says Joni Turunen, Managing Director of Waratah OM Oy.
Located in close proximity to the John Deere Forestry factory in Joensuu, the new facility offers logistical advantages, promotes close collaboration between the companies, and further strengthens the Joensuu region’s role as a hub for forest technology.
