Social responsibility
Our social responsibility focuses on occupational safety, employee well-being, and professional development.
In industrial production work, risk assessments and proactive safety measures to prevent accidents are crucial. We use a risk management software and reporting system through which all safety observations, near misses, initiatives, and potential accidents are systematically reported and addressed. We invest in personal equipment and safety gear according to job requirements and individual needs. Improving awareness of occupational safety and providing training are areas of special focus.
For years, we have offered our employees comprehensive occupational health services and supplemented these with additional insurances. We conduct a comprehensive employee survey every two years and use tools such as development discussions and®Natural Strengths Assessments to support job satisfaction and professional development. In 2022, we added a new HR specialist role to our organization, reflecting our commitment to active human resources work. You can read more about our practices as an employer here.
We are currently working on standardizing our operations for certification of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, with the goal of achieving certification by 2025.

Sustainability work at Outokummun Metalli
In 2023, we decided to integrate the development of ESG themes (environmental, social, governance) more systematically into our company’s daily operations. We have identified key focus areas and are building a sustainability program along with related goals and reporting practices during the years 2024-2025.
The requirements for sustainability reporting are tightening, particularly with the EU:s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. Outokummun Metalli is not subject to official reporting requirements, but we want to proactively develop our sustainability activities. We will also update this website as the ESG program work progresses.
