Steel manufacturing expertise

Outokummun Metalli is a contract manufacturer of attachments for forestry and construction machinery. We specialize in producing John Deere and Waratah harvester head frames and Vahva grapples. In 2023, our revenue was approximately €20.3 million, and we employed 89 staff members.

We are a family-owned business founded in 1980. Our values are centered around customer focus, continuity, sustainability, and collaboration. Long-term customer relationships, quality operations, and a thriving workplace community are key factors for our success. Our factory, covering 8,280 m², is located in Outokumpu, Finland.

At the core of our business is our manufacturing expertise in harvester heads and their spare parts in partnership with John Deere Forestry, the world’s leading manufacturer of forestry machinery. The main stages of our production process include welding, machining, painting, and mechanical assembly. Continuous development of manufacturability and production techniques are vital aspects of our operations.

Our production of harvester heads is conducted in close collaboration with Waratah OM Oy, which handles the final assembly and product testing at their facility in Joensuu. Distribution is managed by the sales organizations of John Deere and Waratah.

In addition, we design and manufacture Vahva grapples. The grapples are used for loading wood and other materials in various applications, including forwarders, excavators, trucks, and material handlers. Our subsidiary, Koneosapalvelu, is responsible for the sales of Vahva products. Our manufacturing program includes over 50 models of various Vahva grapples, such as grapples optimized for round wood handling, energy grapples, and excavator applications.
