Our subsidiary, Koneosapalvelu, along with its network of distributors, is responsible for the sales and product testing of Vahva products. The Vahva grapple was originally developed by Koneosapalvelu and has been manufactured in Finland since the 1980s. The production of Vahva grapples began at Outokummun Metalli in 2011 following the acquisition of Koneosapalvelu Oy.

We have also been manufacturing grapples under the Waratah brand since 2024. The Waratah sales organization is responsible for the global distribution of the Waratah grapple range.

Finnish manufacturing expertise

We manufacture the grapples from high-strength structural steel. Furthermore, the spikes of all of the E models in the C and KC line are made of HARDOX 400 wear- and abrasion resistant steel. This ensures that the spikes can handle wear and tear even in challenging use, such as in chippers and excavators. We utilize robotic welding in the production of frames for volume models, ensuring consistent quality. Our commitment to excellence is also evident in features such as machined peg lines, bronze bearings, and powder coating. To ensure smooth production processes, we adhere to the certified ISO 9001 quality management system and ISO 3834-2 welding certification.

Our production program includes over 50 models of Vahva grapples in sizes ranging from 21 to 140. The Vahva C- and E-models are equipped with a rotator attachment and are designed for handling round timber, logging residues and stumps. The Vahva KC -models are specifically designed for excavators and are used not only for timber handling but also for various tasks such as pipe installation and demolition work.
You can learn more about the Vahva product range on Koneosapalvelu’s product page.

Big-sized Vahva grapples have been used for years in excavators, but the latest additions to the range are even larger, designed for use as timber grapples in material handlers. The maximum opening of the largest Vahva C140 model, when the jaws are fully open, is a remarkable 3.2 meters.

The significant scaling of the product size has also required flexibility from our production, but certainly we have the necessary robust capacity for the manufacturing.
